Welcome to Kent Oaks Consortium
Kent Oaks Consortium offers outstanding initial teaching training in a vibrant school environment. The consortium is accredited by the London Diocesan Board for Schools and The University of Sussex, and in partnership, we provide practical experience supported by sound pedagogy. With a balanced approach to practical teaching and theory you will acquire the skills to become a reflective and honest practitioner and therefore an outstanding teacher.
Teacher training based in schools and delivered by schools is a relatively new initiative however it is clear that it provides the trainee with many benefits. From the start of term you are part of the whole school community and consortium. You will meet like-minded people and will be immersed in the everyday cycles of school life. Each trainee is supported by an in school mentor as well as a link tutor; these are experienced teachers who can guide and focus on adapting the skills of the trainee.
As a consortium we work closely with the primary and secondary schools in our partnership. There are clear systems in place which ensure quality assurance across the consortium. As the lead school Knole Academy also undergoes rigorous quality assurance by our providers. The aim is for trainees to take up teaching posts in their training school or within the consortium once they have qualified. We offer two school direct routes both offering a PGCE and QTS.
